At OCTAL, our commitment to sustainability is reflected in every aspect of our business. Dedicated to replacing other packaging substrates on the market, we proudly offer the most sustainable PET packaging material worldwide. Our products are not only 100% recyclable but proven to achieve the lowest energy input and CO2 emissions (per ton of production ) in the industry. As part of our processes, OCTAL always looks into the impact its products have on the environment. Below are some of our key findings:
Offering a lower environmental footprint compared to the standard PET bottle-grade resin, our PET Resin is something our customers can be proud of. At OCTAL, our state-of-the-art two-stage reactor system eliminates an entire step of production. OCTAL has achieved this reduction in energy consumption without sacrificing the quality of exceptional gloss, clarity and consistency, that our customers demand.
Eliminating 5 energy-intensive stages of the conventional sheet production process, OCTAL has succeeded in creating the world's first and only direct-to-sheet PET sheet, its trademarked DPET® sheet with a lower carbon footprint to the traditional PET Sheet. This dramatically decreases energy consumption while increasing efficiency.
Results of a study* comparing different types of plastic showed that OCTAL DPET™ sheet has a lower environmental impact than APET. Specifically, our DPET™ sheet:
With increasing global environmental concerns, OCTAL wants to go beyond making products that are 100% recyclable. With rDPET® we aim to meet our consumers growing environmental demands for a circular economy by offering a PET sheet created from at least 25% post-consumer waste. OCTAL has done so with virtually no impact to the final visual and mechanical attributes of the material, ensuring our clients’ products are still displayed at their best.
rDPET® sheet can be used for many plastic packaging needs, including but not limited to thermoformed trays and glued cartons.
DPET® sheet releases 69% and 48% fewer scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, respectively. It also requires nearly two-thirds less purchased grid electricity per kilogram of sheet when compared to traditional APET sheet made from bottle-grade resin.
In studies conducted by Intertek Expert Services, OCTAL's DPET® sheet outperformed both virgin PET and recycled PET in Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions, making it the least carbon intensive PET sheet on the market.
Environmentally conscious packaging is playing a huge role in how consumers interact with the products they purchase. OCTAL has remained ahead of the curve, creating products with unmatched environmental advantages from its sustainably built plants and manufacturing processes, achieving the industry’s lowest energy input and CO2 emissions per ton of production. This translates into significant value for customers who benefit from using the lightest weight, highest quality PET packaging with the smallest environmental footprint.
